Is there a way to use a regular laptop (windows or linux) to tune and montitor my truck.

I have been reading the forums for the last 6 months about tuners and tunes - it seems that all these high tech tuners are pretty much very low end computers.

Is there a vendor that offers a software package with a serial/USB odb interface that you can use to program your rig.

Why wait for stuff like the SCT touchscreen when you can mount a small laptop and be alot more flexible?

I am sure you can buy the software to tune your own vehicle but if you do not know what you are doing you can do damage to your vehicle. There is more to it than you may realize. I have watched Matt@ Spartan write tunes, when he was writing tunes for the SCT and I was amazed at how many paramaters you go thru to write for the 6.0L. I personally would not want to take it on but that is just me. I am not sure if SCT still has the software package available but it doesn't hurt to ask. I would give SCT a call and check it out if you are interested.

There is one person over at FTE that is very fond of sniper software and highly recommends it. I do know of another computer software that will allow you to tune our trucks, but it isn't available to the general public, so you would have to have an in to get that.

I think it's their pro racing software and I do believe that still have it listed on their website.
