Exclamation I need a new turbo

after hearing a metal on metal squeel the other day we checked the turbo intake, there is quite a bit of play in the shaft and the squeeling is only getting worse. i dont want to put an after market turbo in just yet, so i am looking for an 04 turbo that is in good condition, or an 03 that is also in good condition. i dont like the feeling of not knowing when the truck is gonna quit on me so i plan on replacing it before it takes a crap. so anyone that has a turbo or knows of someone with a turbo please let me know!
thanks,
cooper

Mine will be coming off in a couple weeks. I have a non-vgt replacement on the way. I haven't decided on whether or not to sell my '06 turbo and pedistal, but if I do I'll keep you in mind. It's got between 34-35k on it. No problems with it but could probably use a good cleaning since it will be out.

It should unless you've got an '03 turbo/pedistal. I will have the pedistal to go with it too. I think the only difference is that the '04's had a 13 blade exhaust wheel, mine should have 15. '03's had 10 blades.

I don't know. Mine whistles plenty, but if the amount of blades has anything to do with it, then yes you might have less whistle. I don't believe there's any noticeable difference in sound in the later year turbos, none of them are as wickedly loud as an '03.

Not to steal thread but is it easy to take apart a turbo and clean it? Does anything need to be compressed? Or is it all just bolts? and if it is easy then what is the best stuff to clean it?

I'll have it by the end of this week I think. But it will be a couple weeks before I get a chance to install it.
