EGT temp with SCT ?

I just installed my SCT Xcal 2 with ID tunes and I am running the xtream street tune. The power is awesome but if I floor it by the time I get to the top of third gear my egt gauge is almost pegged out at 1500 degrees. Is this normal? what temp is to high? As soon as I let off it drops down of course, but I was wondering if this is what your trucks do. I have a K&N intake and 4" banks turbo back exhaust.

1500 is very hot... i wouldnt keep doing that... do you have headstuds?

My truck is an 04 and no I dont have studs

My truck will hit 1600* on Extreme race. Your playing with fire doing it, but some trucks may never have an issue, while others will pop a HG in no time. I have been lucky, and only get the EGT's that hot on rare occasion. SHort bursts of temps that high SHOULD be ok, I emphasize the word SHOULD

Yea that is really hot!! I have an 04 also and I run xtreme street and mine levels out at right around 1250 1300 max!

not sure about the 6 liter but the 7.3 I hear, shouldnt go past 1250 for any length of time. if i were you id do watter/meth stage 3. and or studs.

Are the temp readings pre or post turbo?

i reach 1500 on ex race but its pretty hard to unless you are hammer down for 4+ seconds which is a lot. every now and then isnt a big deal

pre. driver side exhaust manifold. that is where you want it. gives you a fairly accurate temp reading. should be fairly universal to the other side of the block.

Its actually good to do once in a while because of the variable vein turbo the 6.0 has. cleans the fins and veins out. the only prob is on the 6.0 is the EGR cooler will pop if gets too hot, theres no telling when either. also headgaskets.....
