When I did my"zoodad" mod, I went from the inside of the snorkle of the filter box and drilled some small holes so that all the air was going where I wanted it to and to help reduce the chance of dirt and snow getting in there. I live in CO., so I drive in snow and dirt mountain roads, and have had no issues.
