My DIY "stage 2" turbo thread.

Been looking into a turbo upgrade for a while. Rebuilt my biddie's 06 turbo a few months back and in the process recieved my spare 03 turbo back from him that I let him borrowed. So I got inspired for a new project and found a Garrett Gt4088 for a good price. It has a .72 A/R cover and a 64.7×88 compressor wheel. What I plan to do is not a new concept I mostly started this thread to log my progress and ask questions if need be. I run a powermax on stock injectors currently with a ported intake, tuning and FICM tuning, I while also post up some before and after results. Here are some pics so far....

You won't be disappointed with the result. Charlie suggested I might want to put my 63.5 comp section on my stage 3 rear end to see how it reacts for towing, as it would be very close to a built stage 2. Maybe that will be a project for next year

What size turbine does the KC68 run Frank? I have been kind of thinking of what to do with rest of the GT4088, doesn't Barder utilize the GT40 turbine in his 2.5? I don't think it would be worth it for me to do it at this point on stock injectors, but I may save the turbine for the future when I do upgrade them.

Might as well throw up a few more pics.. tore apart the 03 this weekend to have a look and pull the turbine to get balanced with a 64.7 billet, single plane compressor wheel. No surprises in the turbo, I had it apart about a year ago and everything looked pretty good. Nothing special to see but figured I would throw them up...

The oil seal surprisingly not blown...

360° thrust bearing...

Unison ring freed up with no "ovaling" around where the actuator came meets it..

Not really looking to be posting sizes on KC turbos here as that is currently a topic being talked about and things might change, but nonetheless though, what AR housing size came with your GT4088?? I'll explain why it's important.
