Does it sound like a tea kettle??.... Then it is your degas bottle and its either head gaskets or egr causing it

I think I know what noise you're talking about my 6.0 did the same thing...I've heard it compared to a tea kettle which is most like it. In all that I have read it all goes back to head gaskets failing. The noise comes from the degas bottle cap, and with mine I bought a new cap because in a few cases I read about the cap having an issue, and that solved the problem for a while but the droned out whistle returned sadly. So how many miles are on your truck? If it is within warranty I'd be scheduling a date with the dealer...

EDIT - Someone beat me to it

I have an 06 that has done this twice this week. I'm guessing it's coming from my turbo, or possibly a leak in the turbo outlet pipe causing the whistle sound (Maybe a crack in my pipe, or the tube is loose). Going to check into it more on the weekend if it keeps doing it. Can't see it being a head gasket or egr issue unless it's puking coolant, which mine isn't.
