Turbo whistle

I ran into a few guys this weekend at a local car show and during our conversion, we started to talk about my truck. Friday night I did the up-pipe mode and removed the EGR cooler and did this as a DIY mod. I also installed my MBRP exhaust and S&B filter and lastly since I got it for 300$ new a mach7 tuner from hapermax. Sorry I ran on but they noticed that the turbo whistle when I got on it and one of the guys that knows everything just ask him, said that there was a baffle in the turbo that could be removed to make it whistle like an 03/04 can someone enlighten me????

The whistle that everyone loves from the 03 turbo especially is more due to the number of vains then it is anything else. Not even milling out the silencer rings will get you the whistle(which is probably what your guy was thinking of) of the earlier turbos.

no there is baffle you can remove. there is a silencer ring and its for dodges. the only thing you can do to make it louder is remove your cat or change to an 03 turbo. im guessing you have a 05-07.

ya i've got an 05 not cat or muffler as of last Friday and I love the sound. I hope the up pipe and EGR delete was worth the work. I did so much all at once that I don’t know what the best mod was

That will help preserve the life of your turbo b/c it won't have to deal with carbon buildup and it allows you to do even more hp mods down the road(injectors in particular)if you choose to do those.
