Ficm tuner questions

From those that use the pho Ficm tuner...

I'm about to convert my old edge Evo to Ficm tuner but I have no egr gauges... Can I run the atlas 40 safely or with the canned street tune no towing or do I really really need to install an egt gauge before messing with my new programmer? I got a crazy crazy good deal on an old edge Evo is the only reason I finally got one I'm gonna do it tomorrow but wanted to make sure I'm good before running around

2004 f350, straight pipe 3.5in oem exhaust, arp studs, egr delete, Sct sf3 with canned tunes. I won't tow on other then stock just because but I like the mileage with the street tune.

I'm gonna be talking to few you guys about a stage 2 turbo soon to from my earlier thread.

-2004 F350 CCLB 4x4: Sinister Race solutions kit, CAT ELC Edge CS, SCT SF3, PHP Ficm programmer, Procomp, Rough country, and Nitto goodies.
-2004 excursion, banks exhaust, 03 turbo, afe intake
-2006 f350 king ranch, 10 in fabtech, 40in tires, sct tunes,

currently-1999 F250 SBRB 4X4 First 7.3 and feels good to be back in a diesel....

It says on php and Ficm repair to tow less then 8k without gauges on atlas 40. This is vetted advice, stock with it. Go back to stock ECM tune when towing.

I'm usually on stock everything when towing no matter what. But I'm hoping to get a miler or two more for my daily driving to work and stuff. I just don't want to run an aggressive program for my everyday. Even tho I really enjoyed the performance tune for a week or so on my cross country trip got mileage haha. I'm gonna install and try out the atlas 40 tune after breakfast and I'll keep you guys posted.

I run a PHP DD80 tune with the PHP atlas 40 and have had no issue with light towing and daily driving.

Light towing = tandem trailer with brakes and a 3k trail rig or 1500-2k materials

And for the record, my PHP DD tune is WAY better than the canned street tune for shift points and mpgs.
