Mpg...

so last night I decided to load Cale's econ tune up on the truck. I filled up and reset the trip in Harrison, AR....made the trip to Texarkana, AR and topped the tank back off! I was impressed the truck managed to get 19.26mpg!!! This was light driving thru the ozark mountions 55-65mph until Conway and set the cruise on 75mph. I was very impressed with the truck.

Was this just on one tank full? If so, I wouldn't get to excited just yet as that might be a fluke. I have had the wonderful mpg of 16.4 unloaded doing 68 on the interstate with cruise set on and I have only hit that one time despite most easily judged factors that affect mpg being the same.

Also you said you reset the trip. Are you talking about the trip odometer or are you talking about the trip computer? Depending on which it is, depends greatly on rather or not on how accurate this calculation is. For instance and I know this is due to my modified injectors for the most part, if I were to go off the trip computer when I got that 16.4, I should have actually have been getting 20.8.

Depending on those couple of things I wouldn't get to excited about it(and I do hate to burst your bubble on that as that is good mpg, but it just depends on a few things).

Yes that was just one tank full...I always run my race tune and the best it ever does is 18.6 that is hand calculated resetting the odometer and that is the same 2 gas stations each week. The truck always seems to do great on mileage. I am pretty impressed that in the last 7 months I have made the same trip on Friday and Sunday and unloaded for the last 70 tank fulls I have managed to only drop below 17mpg mixed driving a few times hand checked NOT THE LIE-O-METER EVER! The stg 1 injectors definatly helped the mileage, but I was told that I might see better mileage. If I just slow it down a bit and run near the speed limit and run Cale's econ tune more the truck should stay around 19mpg on the hwy. That should make anyone happy getting that kind of mileage in a 7k plus brick.
