Superchips CORTEX programmer

Was looking at this as it can also be used on my wife's '04 Expedition. Believe it's the 1905 model? Not looking for dragstrip time slips anymore, but better MPG. It shows 100+ HP gain which should be felt.

Anybody got this one out there?

I had the Superchips tuner before the SCT, I did not see any benefit to owning it, so I exchanged it for the SCT. Could not be happier.

Please explain. So, their claim for 105 added HP is a bunch of BS?

No it is not bs they are just fine for someone like yourself who is just looking for a little more power and mileage.no everyone needs custom tunes, why do you think companys like banks, edge and superchips sell so many chips and tuners.

It'll work just fine for a person like you. I use them all the time on my ambulances (the older 1705 version) because they offer a little pep without a lot of expense. If you are looking for outrageous performance (which I don't think you are) then it is not really a good option. It helps my trucks with a little pick-me-up and about 20% better economy. Win-win..

The Expeditions are gassers. With gas engines, tuners don't net you anywhere near 100hp. At best 10-15hp at the rear wheels... I'd say more like 10. And for those gains they up the timing so you have to use the high octane. The only other way those chips for gassers make power is through leaning out the a/f ratio. If you just lean out the a/f you'll only see a few hp increase.

Do SCT. I had them on my mustang and now on my truck. Best tuner you can get for a Ford. Jerry (founder of SCT... orignally "FordChip") was program director for most of the EEC's in Fords today. He knows them in and out. He also helped design one of Fords automatic transmissions. Don't do one of those resistor things you see on ebay... bleh. I've had experience with the standard Superchip, SCT, and diablo. SCT was by far the best... and it was plug and go... never thought twice about it. Couldn't say that for diablo.

OOPS. My bad. I saw "Expedition" but I read "Excursion". I assumed it was an EXcursion diesel.

Justang is right, on a gasoline motor it will be of little benefit.

The 100+ HP gain was listed on the F250. Only 20+ on the Expedition but another MPG for her. 2-3 for me.

Anyone out there using this have an opinion on it?

When I did my mustang I saw better gas mileage from the chip. But only 1-2mpg better (if I could keep my foot out of it. lol.). Combine that with having to run the high octane, and money wise it was a wash.

Send a message via AIM to Raul@Stealth Automotive
you cant use it on both vehicles at the same time....

we use the cortex on gas vehicles and it works great but for your 6.0L you would be way better off going with a custom tuned SCT... the trans tuning is a lot better then the Cortex and if your just looking for a small increase just keep it on the lower settings...

let me know if you have any other questions bud or need prices...

-Raul
