Bully Dog
Hey all, i'm new to the forum and just wanted to get some opinions. Just recently got the Bully Dog Triple dog off a friend of mine, which they loved it. I installed it and love it already also. Truck is bone stock with just programmer. Will be installing an intake and a 5" exhaust soon. My question is, what are your feelings on the bully dog? and whats a good 5" exhaust, i don't want anything super loud, but something that sounds good and will give better MPG as well as great performance gains as the truck is mainly used for towing.
Also, does anyone know anything about the tunes on the Bully Dog Triple Dog? Its on extreme now and is a blast, but I'm curious about the Tow Economy setting as i haven't had the chance to tow anything since I've just recently added it. |

im pretty new to diesels but im pretty sure everyone is going to tell you to ditch it and get a SCT with custom tunes

Well you'll need gauges so you don't melt the motor and then just get an SCT. I wasn't a big fan of SCT but I got one and now I'm a believer. With the SCT the tranny will shift properly instead of hunting for gears or slamming. For guages you'll want a pyrometer, trans. temp, and boost. Any SCT that can hold custom tunes will do and a 4" turbo back exhaust will do fine.

Well thanks, but I didn't ask about sct, and if sct is going to get thrown down my throught I won't be here long. My truck shifts just fine, and as for gauges I'm gonna get the outlook monitor to make sure everything is going smooth.was asking for input on bullydog from people who have used it.
Also, I will be getting a 5" so I was asking which will give the most gain while giving the best sound? Thanks, |

As for intake I would keep the stock unit in untill you break the 500HP mark.

Bully dog is ok as long as you dont drive with your foot in it. But if you tow heavy or tend to race a little Get rid of it |

Call Eric at Innovative Diesel, here's the link to the website:
http://www.innovativediesel.com How it works is after Eric sends you the tune you like, you download it to the programmer. Then it's just like the Bully Dog, installing wise that is. Plug into your OBD plug and go through the set-up/install. Very easy and I can tell you you'll like it a lot better. I had a Bully Dog and after going to the SCT it's night and day. Plus the tunes are custom, meaning Eric will ask you tire size, head studs, any mods, ect. so that you get the best horsepower/TQ out of your truck. If I'm not mistaken each tune costs around $80, could be cheaper, especially if you buy more than one... I run the Xtreme Street and Xtreme Race, ask him about those, you'll love em... |
