I just found this web site. Full of info. From what I have read, MBRP and SCT are the big players. Like to know more about the SCT
I have an 05 CC 4x4 w/ the 6.0. It is lifted 6"s and running 35"s. As for power mods, I have a Superchips 1704a programmer. First thing I put on. Has a lot of power over stock. Then I went with an AFE Stage 2 intake. Seemed to help on the mpg, but still have my engine light on. Finally a Corsa exhaust. I was sold on the sound. I am waiting for my MBRP 3.5" downpipe. Hoping this will lower the egt's more. I tow a 35' Weekend Warrior Fifth wheel. I took it to the scales last weekend and I am over 24000#s loaded. Truck has no problems towing. Trans seems to stay below 200degrees. I have a larger oil pan. Getting to my questions. I have been reading alot about Water/Meth injection. Talked to Snow Performance, seems to be safe. What do you guys that have been running if think? Can I safely run that towing this much weight? With the extra power, do I risk hurting my tranny? My EGT's have gotten up to 1400. I want to keep them lower. My boost gets over 30psi, is this safe and normal? Sorry for such a long post. Any info/suggestions are greatly appreciated. |

Well, I am considering the same things here in Oz... HOWEVER, we cannot break the Law, or if we are in an accident we could lose our Insurance Coverage. My F-350 is only Legal to a GCM (Gross Combined Mass) of less than that.... I am going to do it by Ordering an F-550 to get that high of a GCM... Maybe in 2008 when the twin turbo has been on the road for 12 months to get the bugs worked out... What is your truck that you are able to do such loads...??? Or should I not ask? Also considering the water injection. I would like to keep tranny temps closer to 180 F, and EGT under about 1250 to my liking.. I want to tow a 38' Horse Float Gooseneck with accomodations, and we are up for water injection too. But GCM is a worry.... How are you doing it? Best Regards, Ranger in Oz... |

I'm guessing he lives in the US. The only time they crack down on us for that sort of stuff is when someone has recently grossly broken that law and killed a schoolbus full of children....or someone is looking to be re-elected. Seriously, it's not that strick here in the states, at least not in Texas. I can't count the number of illegals caravanning Toyota trucks, flat towing 4-5 ricer cars/trucks each, in a parade, going south to the border. No body ever says anything about it. So when a cop passes a one ton truck with a big trailer, it doesn't even attract attention.

You already have a 3.5 inch downpipe ( I'm pretty sure). I know when I replaced my down pipe with a 4", the old one fit inside of the new. If you can stop that order, do it, and get a 4" downpipe. Basically, what I'm saying, is that if your looking to lower EGT's, your probably not going to get it with that (I've been wrong before though). The 4" is a little tight, but it does fit. Personally, I wouldn't want to run any more than 32 pounds of boost on my '06.

I live in Southern California. I dont think that I am hauling any more than a lot of people out here. My trailer would be considered small. According to my manual, the 05 Superduty is supposed to be able to haul combined weight of 24500#s. I do have air bags. That helps alot. I didn't know that you could get a 4" downpipe. The MBRP is supposed to come out at 4", then reduce to 3.5". But it is mandrel bent. The Superchips was the first thing that I put on back in Aug of 05. I use it on all settings. Tow for when I am towing my trailer. I like the Econo mode for all around playing. I am not sure what you mean from the degas bottle. I did some research on other forums and the reason I went with the 1704A was that it was less likely to spit out radiator fluid compared to all the others. Is there something that I should be worried about? |

The 3.5" dp from MBRP will be more smooth and free flowing over the stock one. |

you got it on the degas bottle. I used the 1704a and have had the recall lable and the egr cooler replaced. Still spits fluid under load no programmer on it just exhaust and intake. I know the head bolts are stretched after reading all the posts on it. I just got it back from the shop. I'm gonna take my boat down there and pull it up a hill with the tech and have them fix it. They can't get it to duplicate the problem on there own.

All that from a Superchips 1704A? My truck only has 17000 miles on it, but it seems to run great. Is there another programmer that i should use? Would I have to worry about that is I had a SCT tuner? Anybody have any other input on water/meth injection?
