Need your input on programmers/tune's

HI guys and lady's, Im new to the powerstroke community. Im a duramax guy myself but I love all the Diesels. My dad has an 06 king ranch with a 6.0 and wants a little more power for hualing, and mpg. he huals a 34 foot gooseneck car trailer. I dont think hes having problems but he wants a little more power. Now I have the edge juice w/att in my max. But he's not looking to spend $700 + for a tuner/programmer. I tryed to show him how that edge has a nice display. So you can see your egt, rpm, ect. Then again im not sure if its the same for the powerstroke application. looking for any input that i can get. I might even buy him one for christmas. thanks

search sct xcal2 or sct xcal3. custom tunes by innovative is the only way to go imo.

go with the SCT tuner with innovative diesel tunes...you can get it from stealth automotive, hes a sponsor on here. Stealth Automotive Inc you probably wont need the xtreme tunes,(160hp tunes) since its gonna mainly be a tow truck, you can get a street tow and heavy tow tune with the tuner

EDIT: you could always look for a used Xcal2 or Xcal3(the names of the sct tuners) and buy the tunes from innovative that you want

dont go with any over the shelf tuner... most of them are crap on the PSD....

my advice is he needs gauges first.... at least pyro and trans temp... and yes he does have a OEM trans temp but that gauge is useless... its just a dummy light and is no way accurate...

after the gauges have him look into a SCT X3 with custom tunes... it will be the best for his setup esp if hes towing... SCT X3 Custom Innovative Diesel Tunning

unfortunately with gauges he will be paying around the same that you did.. but good tuners are not cheap... and you def dont want a cheap tuner on a PSD... the trans tuning is key on these trucks...

Got my SCT from Raul @ Stealth. It's the only way to go in my book. Add some gauges and get custom tunes from Eric @ I.D. and you're set.

thaks for all the input. Now like i said before, I dont know much about the powerstroke. if we are going to aske the 6.0 for more power, Do we need to pipe it and put a intake on it? how good is the stock air box on these trucks.

stock airbox is great. flows and filters fine. 4" back would make the truck sound nice.
