I have only dragger her once, but I gave it JUST a little to get the spooling started lightly, then when I saw the lights that is when I laid into it. But I am not a dragger. I ended up with a 1.9 with 1K pound of fuel on the truck, and blown head gaskets. Before you think I am STOOPID I didn't know the HG's were blown at the time.

I'm no expert but if you don't start to spool until the 2nd light, won't the tree drop before you're ready? I've never dragged, but definately will next time I get the chance. I watched the competition at TS outlaw last year, and everybody started spooling at the first light then eased in to the second. As soon as both trucks have touched the second set of lights the tree dropped very quickly after that.
