6.0 vin number with swapped ecm

Ok maybe a dumb question but we've got a truck that we swapped the ecm out with one from the same year truck running the same strategy code. My question is I'm looking into ordering an sct with custom tunes for it and some tuners want the vin number. I haven't had this ecm re flashed either. When I had it scanned to get the strategy code I didn't scan for vin number. My question is where do these trucks store the vin number? Will it read the vin from the previous truck or from the truck it's in now? Thanks.

Do you have access to a tuner? Say an SCT SF3 or X3?

I don't right at the moment no. That's why we are ordering the whole tuner with tunes and all.

I'll be honest I'm not sure that the 03s store a vin in the PCM. I know when you hook an IDS up to it and start a session it does not show a VIN.

Ok great thanks. The pcm is out of an 03 and the truck it's in now is an early 04 with 03 motor. Old pcm and new pcm both had vxap2n2 strategy code. Didn't think about the vin issue until I was going to order tunes and some want vin number.
