Egr block off failure but scoop removal success

What a day!! First off I installed the updated blue spring with no problems. That was an easy enjoyable mod. I did notice that as soon as i installed it, it would blow heavy black smoke after a hard acceleration, which is something I do not want. ( Is this normal?) The second project was an egr block off plate to the up pipe, not a full delete due to warranty. I ordered a block off plate as suggested by another user on the site. When we finally got the up pipe off and got the disc inserted i realised that it would not mount back into the cooler. I called riffraff diesel and he said that the block off was only for a full delete. I was a little bent out of shape at that point, but I was able to cut the scoop out with little problem. I was a little worried about the scoop being cut out w/o the block off plate being installed but thought the 03-04 originally came this way so it was probably ok. After 14 hours, and removal of the up pipe approximately 6 times it was finished. The problems came from the install of the up pipe at the egr junction. We did not realise that the gasket was not properly seated. Every time I would start it air would rush out of it and the turbo would not spool. We finally got everything buttoned up and now it runs great minus the smoke. With the scoop gone, when i hit the gas the engine noise gets loud. (Awesome) I'm glad this project finally came to an end. Now on to the next one.

On a side note, I can now remove the up pipe in fifteen minutes with out taking off the tire or fender well.
