03 EGR cooler?

Okay i just bought an 03 6.0 and i know it has the round style egr cooler.
I already bought monitoring software (dashboss) and my temps seem to be in the clear. I also cleaned out the EGR valve and it looked pretty clean.

Some people i have talked to say the 03 is much more reliable than the 04+
and that if you monitor the temps you should be fine.
Others say that no matter what cooler you should go ahead and get the bulletproof or delete it.

So.... to delete/replace or keep the 03 style cooler is the question.

Thanks!

Block it off it's much cheaper and works very well. You can hammer freeze plugs in to both ends of it. My brothers ruptured and he did this 10000 miles later not a single problem

Ill have to look into the freeze plugs. never heard of that.

Welding is also a good option. I didn't have a welder so freeze plugs worked very well.

I just sold my 99.5 F350 and picked up an '06 KR. Where would you weld up the EGR Cooler to block it off?

for a 06 you need to take the up pipe off and cut out the scoop that is in there to direct exhaust into the egr. on 03-04 they didnt have to do that. second i would weld both ends shut. i used the freeze plugs but i think welding is a great solution. you do need to tear the engine down quite a bit to get to it.
