Cat delete help please

I have an 07 6.0 and I have a hollowed out catalytic converter I was contemplating on putting in first question is will I notice any performance gains? Second question i've heard of people running a piece of tubing through the center, is there any reason I should do this or is it the same as just putting it on hollowed out. Thanks

Depending on emissions testing in your state, the best thing would be to put a free flowing 4" exhaust on the truck. It will keep EGT's down and let the truck be more efficient. Your not going to notice much with just the cat as the rest of your exhaust is still restricted. I put the 4" Diamond Eye on mine with no cat($250 for turbo back complete kit) and love it. I live in Iowa so there are no emissions testing. I believe there is a Diamond Eye kit that has a free flowing cat for another $100 but I cant gurantee it will pass smog tests.

What exactly do you have currently? A stock system I presume? It should help out a little bit depending on how plugged your current cat is, but the real gain would be from a 4" turbo back exhaust with no cat.

So I've installed an empty cat with a 4 inch piece of exhaust tubing through the center of it the rest of the exhaust is 4" turbo back MBRP stainless with no muffler. Love the way it sounds but I swear I've lost torque could be my imagination or did I really lose a little power?

I set the cat up on a welding table and cut the center out of it (the cat part) Cut on the factory welds and installed a 4 inch piece of exhaust tubing welded one end to the pipe and then slid the cat part over the top of that and welded everything looks completely factoryCat delete help please-imageuploadedbyautoguide1391285199.837899.jpgCat delete help please-imageuploadedbyautoguide1391285217.343418.jpg

Any time you reduce backpressure(which you did, you are gonig to get a little low end torque loss) so no, its not in your head. The flip side is that at WOT the motor should make more power and breathe better.
So you do have 4" coming off the turbo?

That sucks, because I can sure feel a difference I wonder if tweaking the tune may help a little bit because I sure don't want to put the cat back on because the sound is incredible

I'll have to call innovative to see what they think I guess
