Are SCT Tunes SN Locked?

Are SCT custom tunes serial number locked to a specific SCT device? When I bought a bunch of stuff from my buddy, he also gave me his customer tunes but I cant load them on my Livewire. It reads SN doesnt match. ABORT!

A lot of tuners do infact lock it to a serial number

The strategies on your trucks might be different too. I wouldn't take a chance ending up with a dead truck for something as simple as tunes. Deleting them and getting your own would be the best route I think.

Yup any SCT tune with that has .cef on the end is serial number locked.

Any SCT tune written since 2009 is SN locked.

Him and I had the same stratagy and years back I gave a tune to someone and it worked but the newer stuff apparently is locked. Oh well. Thanks.

.ll3 and .cef

ll3 is pre 2009 and are not SN locked. Anything with a cef is SN locked

This makes sense because I still have some really old tunes from Spartan and all of those are .ll3. Thanks for the info.
