Best turbo for the money??

I've done a little research on this ... and didn't get very far..

I realize everyones definition of "best turbo" is probably different. But I just want to see what options there are without breaking the bank, and to see what everyones opinion was on each brand.

Check my sig for my mods to see what would work for me

What is the purpose of your truck? Towing, cruising, track, dyno days, etc. the experienced guys are going to ask this anyway!

Very happy with my BARDER STG2. .
I recommend any of Barders built from a new pmax..

I have to agree with this. I would've originally said to just go with a Powermax and a billet wheel; HOWEVER, considering the fact that you can get a 65mm billet wheeled Powermax from Barder for basically the same price as you would pay for a Pmax and billet wheel (63mm) that is assembly balanced and has great customer service, I think is VERY HARD to beat... JMO of course.

A lot also depends on what you are looking/hoping for.

What are you end goals?
Do you ever plan on adding any other mods?
How much do you tow?
What size nozzles do you 175s have?
Do you ever plan on replacing the transmission?


Sounds like you could end up with any of the good choices out there.

A stage 1 will spool faster than the rest and make the truck feel lighter, but it will probably make the least amount of power. (also the cheapest)

A stage 2 is only just slightly bigger than a stage 1. (63.5 vs 64.7) It will make a little more power and lots of people have been very impressed with it.

A stage 3 is a pretty big turbo. It will by far make the most power. Tuning has come a long way and you can get a stage 3 to spool just as good as a stage 1 or stage 2 (with the 10 bladed wheel).





I would decide a budget... 1000, 1500, 2000?

Then decide how much power you want... 450, 485, 500+

Also figure out if you want quicker spool or more power

Barder or mtw turbo would be good either way. Depends on your budget and personal preference really.

KC Turbos are also seeming to be doing REALLY well with the initial testing so time will tell... I do know that they are also competitively priced and built REALLY well... There are A LOT of great VGT options out there for folks now that are basically win win...

I really appreciate all of the input!
Basically my truck is my daily driver. With frequent light towing (snowmobiles or atvs) and about once a month a loaded car trailer. I don't need a billion ponies, just something with some bang, for good street use for under $2000 if possible. and id like to match it to my mods.

im not exactly sure on injectors. I bought the truck with injectors. 2 failed so I sent them to industrial to match them and they said they built them and they are stock injectors with their 175 nozzles. weird thing is, when I got them, my receipt said they were their "race1" 175cc injector. so whatever that translates to lol.
