Talking Six Gun is HERE!

I just got my Six Gun in the mail today, it's like Christmas morning ALL over!!! Going into the garage to install right now... it'll be a week about till I get a hold of a Tap and Die set to finish off the Speed Loader install. but i'm stoked to just feel my truck push power like my Mustang does now i'll post pictures soon. I also ordered up my KMC wheels and Nitto tires for the truck today. So it'll be looking nice and burnin rice! (don't normally rhyme but when it arises, i need to do what I can )

enjoy and see y'all on the 1320

just got in (1:08am EST) from driving around with my buddies Greg and Cory. I installed it with no problems, roughly 3 hour install time for an idea. Plug and play type of install, always a treat. Thorough directions, a few snags I'll mention.
-as always, firewall entry isn't the most pleasant. But i choose the boot closest to the e-brake because it had the most play to it and was easy to reach from the unit.
-Getting the "C" PCM clip from the main unit to the Six Gun is a BEAR! You will need to cut the factory tape and undo the battery tray to even BEGIN to budge it. I went under the fender well and found a clip I thought would loosen it, but after pulling as long as I did it broke free and seemed to be a factory zip-tie. That was one of my biggest problems.
Other than those two things, it was very straight forward and the directions guided you from box open to door closed.

On to the good part! You have to break it in to "teach" the tranny the new shift points and so forth. So I went to a local deserted road and did as they said. Sat still, rolled a bit, then "put the accelerator to the floor until you reach 60mph." The 2nd (1st in terms of power) setting was a thrill over stock. Well I worked my way up to setting 6. WOW!!!! I never guessed I'd spin all four tires (yes, 4! the only way I HAD traction was in 4x4) in this truck. It was INSANE!! For some added fun after break in, spool up the turbo and then drop in on it. To do, sit and power break, in 4x4 the wheels really don't break loose, and you're boost pressure will get to about 20psi. Lift up on the break and the rest is history! In all honesty I can still feel my stomach hurting a bit and I got an instant headache. 20psi of boost from a stand still was INSANE! I can't say enough good things. No engine or tranny lights, nothing. I'm loving it and can't wait for the speed loader. Thanks Banks!

Sorry for the long post, but I'm excited and wanted to share for those in question. Enjoy your toys and I'll talk to you guys soon.

Oh man, I gotta say that is pretty amazing. You need to take it out on the road and run against some newer cars and trucks to give us a real view at just how quick it is. How much black smoke does it make?

hopefully not much, Gale Banks calls smoke "power you can see, not power you can use."

99smokin- to get the most smoke I crank it up to the 6th setting and POW it's there. But still not like I remember my friends older 6.0 Possibly newer 'less smoke' technology Banks came out with.

andrew- i picked it up from PortaDiesel.com they had the best price and AMAZING (i mean, i was VERY surprised) phone manners and workers. They were great to deal with and very polite at all times and towards questions I had.

and for a kill story. Going over the Delaware Memorial Bridge I noticed a C5 vette with a paint job, AE exhaust, and a few other pieces on it. It was pulling into the EZpass lane next to me. So I clicked it on up to 6 and creeped out and he saw me, so he jumped forward a little, and I did my best job to get my pedal to stick to the firewall! well let's say that man might trade in his vette for a PSD! I mean, I hope he wasn't getting on it, but it kicked back twice (two shifts) and I had atleast a truck and a half on him the whole time. Not a Z06, but still atleast 350hp+ Vette. Dig it!! I was loving that feeling. 8000lbs. to just under 4000lbs. Double the weight, double the car length. Thanks Banks AGAIN!

keep smokin! tires that is

Wink

Nate: I just started to install my Banks 6-Gun w/PDA today. Did you take the exhaust manifold off to drill and tap it? A friend of mine drilled his without removing it but had the engine running so as to blow the debris back out. It seems to have worked as he has had it on for 6-7 months and no problem. Has anyone else tried this?

drill it slow so most of the metal doesnt end up in the manifold....then use a small magnet to collect as much as possible...then hook a shop vac up to the hole to suck out more....then start your motor with the sensor not installed....then install the sensor and you should have no problems.......Marc
