So Granny, you have essentially a 500hp 6.0L. 600hp isn't gonna happen?

I am well aware that alot of people quote "inflated" horsepower numbers for their particular truck. What can I look forward to having (hp wise at the tires) with another turbo, injectors to support the turbo ( I know they need to be matched), good fuel system, converter, and a custom written tune for my combo?

I am realistic. I am not wanting to spend the coin to pioneer a "unicorn" or the first 1,000hp all diesel 6.0L. Forget that.

I even SERIOUSLY entertained the idea of trading mine for a 6.4L, but trade-in amounts of $16k are enough to make me keep my truck. I know mine is worth more than that. Other than high miles (88,000) My truck is perfect. I keep it spotless, even repainted it in May b/c of rock chips, and replaced all the glass, chrome and lights at the time I painted the F250. I sold all of my extra parts to a friend on here (F250ghost) and another buyer. If someone gave me the right amount for the truck, I'd sell or trade.

600 on fuel is just too tough a pill to swallow for most people ($$$ wise I mean). It just takes too much. I think upper 400's to 500'ish is a pretty realistic goal with 190's and a good single turbo upgrade. I think that's about at the limits of streetability with these trucks. Unless you have the coin for twins and other custom parts/labor... I surely don't. Getting to 400HP is relatively cheap. That extra 100 is going to cost you about $8-10k if you figure in a tranny.

Of course I'm referring to getting HP on fuel only. You can always spray your way to 500... for less $$$.

Kurt makes very good point. You will have to spray to get that kind of HP. I have run out of air on the top end. I firmly believe that these folks who are doing all these bigger injectors ( larger than 190s) with single turbos) end up being disappointed beause they are not able to support them, turbo-wise. You are looking at having to most likely go to a compound set-up, big oil, big fuel and the likes. IMHO, I don't think it is worth the amount of money you would have to spend and I don't know just how street-able it would really be when you are done. So, I concur with Kurt on this one. Now, you want that kind of HP, look at what Spartan has done with the 6.4 and minimal mods and his tuner. Yes he has added some bigger mods as well and gotten bigger numbers but he is still on a stock tranny thru it all. There are some 6.0L out there with big numbers but they have dropped some serious coin and they have not held together and some of them ended up going the .cummins conversion route.

I guess I have been introduced to the grenade's pin. I am very appreciative that you guys have been here to tell me this info instead of me having to discover this the hard way.

So the recipe is fairly well outlined for 500rwhp out of a 6.0L. What would you do parts wise to achieve a consistent and dependable 500hp out of my truck?

I think a good reg return fuel system, FASS pump or Airdog w/ Raptor, a set of 190cc injectors, and a VGT-SS or similar sized non VGT. Of course a CAI, turbo back exhaust, and some really good tuning Ie: Eric @ Innovative... Should get you close to 500. For reliability you'll probably need a tranny sometime after that. How soon depends on how you drive it.

Don't forget the studs!!! I could have easily reached 500 rwhp long ago if I wanted to spray but I refuse to drug the old lady! 500 hp is attainable with spray no problem. I have the Suncoast Superduty rebuild kit in my tranny. I have been very pleased with it.

Kurt,

You are quite a bit of help. I really appreciate it. Do you know of the most economical way to get these parts together? I already know that Elite is priced pretty high. There have to be better resources (distributors) price-wise. I already have the AFE stgII, purchased in Feb/08, and an XCAL2.

Assisting with the labour? I don't think any shop would find it in their best interest to knock off the price and let the customer work with the mechanic.
