removing the muffler

I have a 4inch silverline exhaust with the muffler. Is it safe to remove the muffler. I don't want to hurt my engine. Will it give me more power or smoke?

It is totally safe to remove the muffler I like many people on here have a straightpiped exhaust it will not hurt your truck, as for power and smoke it really wont make a difference with an aftermarket muffler cause they are normally straight thru mufflers but it sounds better in my opinion with a straightpipe

this is kinda off topic but someone told me adding 4" stacks made him LOSE 2 secs of his 1/4 mile time. My bs meter started to twitch but i didn't know cause I havent installed mine yet. (mbrp stacks still in living room floor)
