Definitely a good preventative. Just make sure you block the up-pipe and not just the egr valve itself.

I agree. Doing this will give you alteast some piece of mind knowing that it is blocked. It is a good first step in improving the reliablility of the 6.0. My next mod is an EGR Delete kit.

I did mine today by following instructions online whether or not I did it right.........?? it only took 15 seconds. Just remove the plug from the EGR valve located to the left front of the oil filter if you looking at the engine. Small aluminum cyclinder with a 5 prong plug on top.

^^^ You just unplugged the EGR valve that is not a block-off. In my opinion, just unplugging it makes things worse since now the hot exhaust stays stuck in the EGR cooler instead of circulating back into the engine.

I just took the up pipe out and took it to a welder and had them plug it and cut the scoop out. And no you dont have to take off the turbo..
