Excessive smoke- HELP

I have 06 F350 with an edge juice platinum, 3" magna flow exhaust and BD 6.0 thruster turbo kit. I just tested the truck and it smoking heavily upon acceleration. It billows black smoke until it shifts to 2nd gear.

Is this normal, as i am new to diesel tuning.

When you just floor it suddenly, the turbo is not spooled, so it will throw tons of fuel to the motor but not much air. Once the turbo spools up, you have enough air, and the smoke mostly goes away. The smoke comes from incomplete combustion. It sounds like this is what's happening to you.

Try rolling into the throttle instead of just jamming it to the floor. You will get a lot better off the line response and a lot less smoke and wasted fuel.

It's baaaaaad on the transmission. I think most people here will steer you towards the SCT. If I were you, I'd keep the edge and just set it on zero to use the gauges and pick up an SCT Xcal3 from DJ, Raul, or Innovative. You'll be a lot happier with the way the truck drives, and your transmission will last a lot longer.

I've had another tuner that was more conservative but pulled HARD once boost was achieved. I think they purposely make it blow smoke, either to help with turbo spool, or so the customer can blow it on demand.
