EGR on an 2004 6.0
Hey guys,
So I purchased my turbo back exhaust, when get home to install it I would like to take care of my EGR. From the research I have done I see that my best bet is to get the block off plate from elite diesel. My question is….drum role. Who has installed this MOD how easy is it, is there a write up, or pictures. Anything will help because I am learning with this truck. |

Find a metal shop, ask if they have any 1.5" SS bar stock (preferred) scrap that they can cut you a 1/4" piece off of. Get the EGR up-pipe out, check for the scoop and remove as necessary, weld in the plug, install the modded pipe.
Now if you want the whole pipe already done up there are some fellas that have the pipes ready to go and will swap you for cash and the core. I was able to do this in the driveway with hand tools. If you remove the following it helps to access the area: passenger side wheel, passenger side wheel well liner, and downpipe. Have as many rachet extensions as you can find since the upper end of the pipe is hard to reach. Take your time, dont rush. |

I have a 04, I should be able to just put the block off plate in and be good to go? From what I have read I don’t think my truck is equipped with a Scoop in the up pipe? What I have read says I can do the block and that’s it, don’t need to worry about CEL or any thing? If this is correct how easy or hard is the installation block plate, and how is it done?

Remove your passenger front tire and your up-pipe is just on the inside of your exhaust down-pipe. Remove the bolts holding your up-pipe in place and install the block off plate in the "y" that leads to your EGR cooler. |
