SPARTANS tunes?

Im curious about the spartan tunes? I looked at all the applicable tunes they have on their library, and got a few questions.

1)How do I actually get these on the SCT? because I downloaded all the tunes on my laptop, but cant open the file. ie windows does not know who made the file

2)Are these tunes as good as DJ's or Innovatives tunes?

3)Are they as safe on the tranny as DJ's or Innovatives tunes?

4)Do they run Dangerous EGT's?

5)Why are they free?

Thanks for any help in advance!!!!!!!!!!!

1. call a tuner.
2. IMO, no.
3. they all put wear and tear on the tranny
4. yes.
5. because spartan ventured into the 6.4 big time and didn't have time to deal with all the 6.0 guys that needed tunes.

1 Do you have the liveload software for the SCT?

2 Depends on whos opinion you get

3 If you adjust your revs per mile and shift pressures they are ok

4 Anyones tunes can! Thats why you need gauges

I used the Max Econ from Houston to Midland,TX (500 Miles) it was not something I would use for anything but highway driving, but on the highway I scored a record high of 23.6 MPG @ 63-65mpg up from my personal best of 21.9 with that change alone, and I had 900# of fuel on the truck for the 23.6mpg run which I did not have when I got 21.9mpg .....

Ok Ive got all Spartans tunes downloaded to a folder on my Laptop. I also downloaded the Liveload software 3 from SCT. Every time I try to open one of the tune files i downloaded it says cannot open file that windows does not know who made it. Is this how it should be? Am not supposed to be able to open the file until it is on the SCT? or are the files corrupt..........Im new to this. thanks for any help in advance.
Sorry im getting ahead of myself here but I just want to be well versed on the SCT and downloading the tunes before it arrives. I have one more ? Its an Xcal2, so can I change trans line pressures and RPM by myself before loading into the truck? Im going to be using Spartans tunes but want my tranny to shift crisp and safe. Oh yea and is there someone here who can walk me through the shift pressures and such by phone or this forum??

You need the software

You cant open them without tuner software, You can load and use them using liveload software. There are a couple videos on sctflash.com that shows you how.

Did you turn of your antivirus software and firewall before downloading the tune? That can corrupt the file

You mean the actual software from the SCT itself? or the liveload software

The easy way to tell if a file was corrupted is by the file size. If the downloaded file is the same size on your PC as it is on the original server you are normally ok.

You cant just double click and open one of the tunes. It doesnt work that way. You have to use the liveload software to transfer it to the SCT. If you need help with that feel free to PM me
