Difference in SCT SF3 and X3?

I have searched and was wondering what the difference was between these two programmers?
Thanks

The SF3 has 3 preprogrammed tunes, and the X3 is blank waiting on custom tune from your choice of vendor. The SF3 is what I have and can recieve 3 custom tunes as well.
However I recently read a post from DJ's that SCT had changed something, I believe on the X3.

What model SF3 do you have? Mine is a 3015 and was wondering if it could take custom tunes? I thought I saw where the latest SF3 could no longer take custom tunes. Either way I need some custom tunes!

Mine is 3015, you may be correct on the SF3. I may have my models backwards, look up threads by mobenz and you will find her post about which model they changed.

The X3 holds 3 factory SCT tunes, and can hold 3 custom tunes at the same time

Per SCT,
The old X3 had 3 preprogrammed tunes and could accept 3 custom tunes.
The new X3 is blank waiting for custom tunes.
The SF3 has 3 preprogrammed tunes and can still accept 3 custom tunes.

Not for sure, but thats what tech support said this morning. These are the two models in the lineup as far as flash devices go.

Hi,

That is correct. SCT recently changed the X3 and made it like the Xcal2, where there are two models. The P/N 3000 - X3 is the custom tuner and the P/N 3015 - SF is the preprogrammed tuner.

The X3 will hold 3 custom tunes.
The SF wil hold 3 preprogrammed tunes. I'm thinking the SF can be converted to a custom tuner only, like the old 9415 (Xcal2 SF) but I would need to confirm that information with SCT.

Thanks,
Vivian
