Stay with the stock intake filter. Spend that cash on a single plane billet compressor wheel.

For me the filter was the first thing I did . I got the air raid kit and the install was easy and I can tell it helped the truck breath . I say get the kit and put it on u will like the sound of an open cai

I need to replace my stock filter at this point and am thinking of getting the S&B instead of a new OEM air filter.

For the cost you could drive over 100k miles using stock air filters that hold more and flow better in the long run. Replacing air filters isn't for the novice 6.0 owner.

Since the turbine side makes the whistle maybe start there. More whine after that is done with a new compressor wheel like a single plane billet design.
