Whats everyone running for Exhaust?
I am wondering what kind of exhaust to buy, but I would like some input from you guys. I have a 2006 F250 CC SB Powerstrokenow. I had a straight pipe and cat delete on my old truck,(97PS), but now with the new one i dont know. I liked the sound of the turbo whine coming through on the old one. I like the sound and the turbo loud, last one got complements said it sounded like a big rig. Anyway what exhaust is good for the sound that I want, if anyone is running a decent exhaust. I liked the sound of the Silverline dual exhaust, but I dont know. Let me know what you guys like!

I have a Grand Rock Powerflow on my truck. They make some nice pipes for new body style trucks as well. http://www.grpipes.com/ They are made just down the road from me and I know they are made to deal with harsh winters (salt, slush, etc.) which is a consideration around here. |

I hope you like the sound of the turbo cus if you put a straight pipe on a 6.0 thats pretty much all you'll hear. A guy down the street from me had the cat and muffler cut out and you could hear when he was coming down the road was the trubo and it sounded like a jet was taking off. I think Banks makes an aexhaust with a resinator just after the turbo to quiet down the turbo whine.

www.blackclouddiesel.com they got great stack kits. I have one on my truck 5in. i have a stright pipe no cat or muffler and you can hear the turbo alittle at idle but once you get into it its all motor mostly you hear i like it. Am not a big fan of the turbo noise. But it still does it but not a whole lot.

I have a Magnaflow 4" turbo back....It's excellent on the 7.3's but I haven't heard one on a 6.0 yet. Hey Lilred your buddy must have had an 03 6.0...those were notorious for having really loud turbos. Once you straight pipe them and put an intake on it really let the sound out. I mean they'd just idle and be whistling like mad, and when under acceleration they sounded exactly like jets. Wish mine was that loud, it's awesome. They redesigned the compressor wheel for 04 to cut down on it, but they still sounded good. |

Hey Bully, I've got the MBRP turbo back on mine - it's alright I guess. I left the muffler off but kept the cat for emissions (Houston's pretty strict). The problem you're going to find is you're not going to get that awesome turbo whine you hear on the the earlier model PSD's. From what I was told anyway it had something to do with change in the turbo - more or less fins, heck I can't remember. That was the first thing I wanted when I got my '05 and was kind of bummed when I found out it wasn't going to happen. The good thing I can say about my MBRP is it sounds nice when I'm driving normal but when I get on her - she sounds AWESOME. Anyway, that's what I've found. If anyone can make an '05 have that same "jet" whine without changing the turbo I'd like to hear how. |

An air intake will give you a lot more torbo noise. At idle I get the jet sound through the tail pipe and when I'm cruising the intake noise adds to it quite a bit. It's cold out now so my windows are up and can't hear the exhaust very much. Anyway I went with an T304 stainless system w/cat delete from www.pmtchips.com. It is made for them by ANSA Silverline.

Yeah Rod a really free flow flowing intake will let out that turbo noise. As long as it's open to the air and not all enclosed like the factory ones and some of the aftermarkets. Oh and just think if you had the turbo from an 03 - It's incredible how loud they whistle. Too bad ford changed it for 04 :-(

Thanks Smoke and Scotty - that'll be my next mod then. I heard an '03 one time shortly after I bought mine and it sounded just AMAZING. Every bit of an F-16 (I'm sure James or one of the other Air Force member will correct my Army butt on jet sounds
) when the guy was going by. My wife and I were playing golf at the time, so the whole time I'm on the course I'm telling her "I HAVE to have mine sound like that". As soon as we got home I ordered my MBRP exhaust and once I installed it and didn't have that AWESOME sound I was bummed. That's when I searched around and realized they had changed the turbo's so I was SOL. Oh well, I'll see what the air intake will do for her.
