just wondering if there was an update internally between the white connector solenoid and black connector solenoid.

stands to reason there was a change somewhere. As far as functionality I doubt anything is different. I have seen one black connector solenoid leak oil through the pins and into the connector.

Thanks for the reply. Yea it looks like I need a new solenoid after my turbo rebuild as the vanes would move but not all the way. I guess while replacing the bushings and seals my 80k noid didn't like the time on the bench. It must have picked up some dirt along the way during the rebuild. A tear down show the vanes free still moving and clean so this must have failed, if not I'll just have one on had.

I had a few turbos apart on my bench recently... one of the actuators had a small screen on it, the other did not.

At some point in production, either late 04 or 05 the VGT solenoid was updated for faster response. You'll have to check one of the coffee table books to see the exact year.

Is that the only difference? What color was the pigtail on the 03-04 solenoids?
