TURBO PROBLEMS

was drivig my truck today mashed on it a lil bit then let off then went into it again then the turbo sounded funny .... then looked down at my boost gauge and the most i saw the boost to be was 16 and i usually see 33.... what happened did i blow the turbo or is it something that cam loose... i thought if i blew my turbo up it wouldnt run at all but it still spins it just dont make a lot of boost and sounds a lil odd i need help

Id say first look at all of you intecooler piping and make sure you dont have a torn or loose coupler then if you cant find anything pull the intake boot of the turbo and look at the compressor wheel if you don't not see damage feel for excessive shaft play in the turbo.

VGT solenoid possibly or just sticking veins...

mine did that ans I had kinda of a whining sound and i found out that 1 of the fins on the turbo wheel had broken. since the turbo went out and replace $2000

i just got back from the kenton county pull at 2:30 in the morning and have been worrying about it all night... i dont know much about the turbo and dont fell like taking it apart due to the fact i miht cause more harm then good... i just got into the diesel world and im only 16 and im just trying to build my truck right and get it to the point where its untouchable

cleaning the turbo

If it is indeed the turbo needing cleaning, here's a good link for that:

If you have the money to pay for your mistakes, i'd say the best way to learn is just do it. First eliminate all other possibilities, then work on the most possible reasons for the problem. If its the turbo, you can remove it and try to clean it. for a sticking turbo, i've blocked off the exhaust to the EGR cooler and use a cetane boost in my fuel.
