Head Gaskets & which SCT

Hey Guys,

Newbee here and I have a couple questions.

I'm considering the purchase of a programer and after reading some of the threads in the forum I'm some what unsure if I really want one; question is
does the result of blown gaskets happen over a period of time due to a heavy foot or can it happen any time? I'm not a heavy foot driver but I would like a few more hp from time to time when I need it.

I've been doing a lot of reading on this forum and was looking hard at the SCT, I plan on using just the loaded tunes unless down the road I decide I need something more than the three tunes.
I have an 05 F250 6.0 and a 06 F150 5.4 and if I read it correctly the X3 will work on both trucks question is will it load both trucks?

Any suggestions or help I would really appreciate.

Will work on both, but will have to be "unlocked" with each switch to other truck. Only have 5 unlocks on programmer. Now that is with the Xcal2s, I think it's the same with the 3s. Also, you would have to put the other truck back to flstock setting.

As for studs...it can happen to any of them. Not as common with running it stock though. But, if you go with custom tunes, the tuner can make a program that you will enjoy with more power, yet still be safe to run on factory bolts.

Are you saying the can tunes are stock and custom are other than the can tunes?

The biggest benifet to the custom tunes is the tranny tunes, your tranny will appriciate the custom tunes alot better than the canned tunes. Garenteed

canned tunes come on the tuner and custom tunes are wrote for you specific truck, by a tuner like Eric @ inovated.

Yes, canned tunes are just that. Generic written files for any/all 6.0s.

Customs are written for your truck, strategy, driving style, wants/needs, and mods (if any done).

Ok I think I understand now, a tuner can custom a tune for my needs taking out some of the risk of poping headbolts.

Exactly!

Unfortunatly, the risk will always be there, greatly reduced though with a proper tune. Biggest thing is the timing set by the program, but with a reputable tuner written files, it will be the safest option for gaining more power.
