Ported Intake R&R

Has anyone posted the video or instructions on how to replace the intake with a ported one?

Is it difficult or just take time?

Contemplating this move before the MaDmAx gets here..... hopefully soon.

Probably calling WindRunner408 soon......

Pretty much the same as a stock intake R&R depending on how it's fastened. Mine has a 2 bolt setup with the bottom bolt counter bored into the intake floor to sit flush. Bottom used allenhead cap screws. To put them in I used a long allen wrench, took a small piece of paper shop towel and put that over the cap screw and pushed it on the allen wrench to hold it on while I set it into the intake. When you pull the wrench out it leaves the paper which just goes through the engine and burns up when you start it up. Top I used button head screws with o-ring washers. Pretty easy.

My ported intake is same design with counter sunk allen heads holding all but back bolts. I installed my intake gaskets off the truck with the manifold standing on end. I placed the allen head bolts on to the allen key and placed them into the intake and into the rubber intake gasket seal while the bolt and allen key were horizontal and not falling off the key etc.. once the bolt is in the rubber gasket seal it will stay put. I thread them in all the way and it helps with lining up the bolts when installing the intake and little risk of dropping the bolts down the intake ports. Also when removing the bolts I don't thread them out 100 % as they will stay in the gasket and not fall out etc much much easier then a fishing expedition..
Thanks,
Deo

I also have the BPD EGR Delete so thinking of going with 1/2" plug and windrunners intake.

Does the turbo have to come out? What's the worse OH $#!T thing that can happen...

Turbo does have to come off and I'd say the worst thing that could happen is you drop one of the small Allen head bolts down into the head.

is there any reason other than cost to stay with the BPD EGR Del. or do away with it entirely and go for the most expensive fully bored out style intake?

If you were going to do this and do it once would you let 125.00 matter ?

Who's intakes were you looking at? I haven't seen any that offer various degrees of porting...unless you're talking to someone like oliver (ODawg) about making one for you how you want. If it wasn't for the stupid alternator location. I'd fab one from scratch, but the damn alternator would pretty much need to move to make it worth while in fabbing a manifold.

WindRunner408 makes 3 versions, 1 is just drill out the posts and add plugs ver 2 adds internal milling to smooth everything out of the way, ver 3 removes the egr obstruction etc etc etc.
