Cheap Diesel Chip

Have any of you guys tried one of those cheap diesel chips off Ebay?

They claim to give a maximum of 85/150 with 5 settings in incraments of 20%

It looks like a good deal but I'm bare bones with the exception of the recent removal of my exhaust blockers and want to start off with something small for now. I also have no clue where to start my mods. Any help is much appreciated.

Should I go for it?

If you are talkin one of these units You can do the same thing yourself for about 10 bucks

I would just invest in a real programmer like an SCT

How in the world do you do that for only $10 dollers, I havent heard of this mod.

I would go for an adjustable chip from Tony Wildman and a good set of Gauges like Pyro, Trans Temp, and Turbo Boost. There are also some lil things you can doy yourself to unlock your trucks hidden power that is already there like the 10K mod and the FPR Shim mod (see mod help thread)

Ryan what that is is an adjustable 10k mod using a potentiometer instead of a resistor/ thats why its so cheap

Scotty the 10k mod works on the 6.0 too. but if you have an SCT you dont need it

The site is cheapassdieselchips.com It looks like a quality built adjustable chip. like i said before it has a 6 stage dial with LED stock- 20% increments. It has factory plugs on it so you dont cut any wires. I am new to electronic mods as I am a former 12 valve cummins driver.

That's what you guys are here for. I didn't want to buy something that will end up on my work bench collecting dust.

Are there any reasonable upgrades for that price?
I am not looking to burn all four off the back but just a little more power and a little smoke would be nice too.

And by the way the one I'm looking at does not use a potentiometer so they claim.
