Guest its Time to upgrade tranny

Hi guys, i think my tranny went south yesterday, i explain

268 000 km on it, had a custom tune since last 3-4k km. I had some hard shifting so i put it back stock was ok. So i changed of tuner then everything was fine since that.

The truck has the sct and 4" straight pipe. Its not my dailydriver so everytime i take it to the grocery store a beat the sh!t out of it and always runs nice. Sh!ts started yesterday coming back of a little trip in the montains ( nothing crazy ) then the tranny start acting wild. Veeeery long getting in reverse, or in drive. When stop i gave little throttle it would shift from 1 to 5 then back in 1 and goes. Or when cruising around 70 km/h hitting the pedal and motor revving like in neutral..

Oil is fine and no burnt smell ans no leak.

Time for rebuilt i think ?

Im looking for sun coast or ats rebuilt kit also at the same time ill get a tc. I plan on building the motor in few month for 5-550 hp so I want the tranny rebuilt to hold this.

there are a few members whos trans would shift from 1-5 on initial take off and the replaced a small sensor and it went away, i think one the shift solenoids or something. i'll cross my fingers they chime in.

While I have not had that problem it cold very well be the direct drive solenoid. Iirc the DD controls low and reverse which is what you're experiencing.

sent from my Samsung S4

do a modified direct drive solenoid and see if that helps it. it will increase pressure to the low/reverse clutches as well as on the 3-5 shift.

did you perform a trans relearn after installing the tune? do two runs from a dead stop thru all the gears at 25% throttle. then two at 50% then two at 100%

it does take time for the trans to learn.

Get an EPC solenoid there are threads on here about grinding down the tabs. The EPC will flow better than a plain DD solenoid and will reduce shift flare. I think they cost about $90. I would do that first and if the trans is messed up you can still use the new solenoid in the rebuilt trans.

I think my relearn was good cuz it was running good before this week. The tune is in the truck for 2 months like 1000km.

For the dd solenoid wich one should i buy ? Ive made a big research yesterday and cant decide wich one to get. I just learn to not buy stuff from doug at gogo. Or maybe im better bite the bullet, retard my hg and all and get the whole rebuilt kit from sun coast ? Anyhow ill be there in next year or two

Also im in canada

Ahaha the tranny when south AFTER my little ride ! I made only 20 km since. But im 350km from home, hope it will hold.

Ill call the dealer tomorrow for a quote for the epc. I read that we have to modify it to fit in there ? Cause its not its original job i think. Also will i have to ask for a tranny tune revision ? Thank you all guy helping me.

Edit: the trip in the mountain was nothing to compare with how i drive it when i get in while i passed a week in my echo !! Ahaha damn 6.0 sound good at 3k
