Which ficm aftermarket to buy?

If you were going to replace or repair your ficm, which aftermarket would you go with? Pros /cons? There are so many out there, not sure which to pick. I need to replace mine soon. Been getting 36 volts in the mornings.

In all reality you have three ways to go.. I will list them in order from best to "worst"

1. Bullet Proof Diesel Full FICM or FICM power supply
2. FICM Rebuild by Ed at FICMrepair.com
3. Purchase another one from Ford

With one you are buying quality of BPD which is the route I will be going. With two there have been quite a few people with good experiences with Ed, but for the same price you can just about get a new one from BPD. And with 3... well you could end up right where you are now withing as little as weeks, you are better going off with 1 or 2... but figured I would say this is an option, not the best option, but an option none the less.

I am gearing towards the BPD 6 phase. Do I need to get the one with the logic board?

No it is not nesisary. Logic boards rarely fail. Yours should be fine plus if you are already FICM tuned with keeping your logic board the tune will "transfer"

I feel the only reason BPD started offering full FICMs (power and logic together) is for those who are scared/afraid to open their existing FICM to replace the power side. And I guess in a way to minimize down time. Or to allow someone to have a "spare" FICM assuming they just replaced theirs and the current one isn't bad. I actually may buy a full FICM and send it off to Ed to get tuned or purchase the FICM tuner out right. And that way I can keep my current one as a back up for myself and my buddies, and to possibly sell down the road

It's always been my understanding that a failing charging system is the root cause of failing FICMs. Last winter, I went with the Bulletproof 6-phase unit myself when mine got too bad to ignore any longer. I had previously had an issue with my alternator and batteries and ended up putting a new alternator and Diehard Platinums in but I think the damage had already started. When I put the Bulletproof FICM on I had already taken care of the other issues, but you would be wise to check out your components and replace any failing items as necessary. Otherwise your your new unit may end up joining your old one in the trash can.

I didn't even know BPD was offering full blown FICM assemblies.
