fuel economy

I was talking to someone who claimed that you could put a chip on a diesel that would make it get 25+ miles to the gallon. Is this true? I have a 2004 F-250 with a 6.0 diesel. Can someone guide me in the right direction to get way better gas mileage?

Yes, that is probably true, however you would have to take all the emission crap off, make your truck 2 wheel drive, put an ugly front air dam on, and shave about 2500 lbs. But it can be done. Oh and also always drive with a tailwind.

25+ mpg isn't gonna happen, 20 is believable on the open road driving right keeping thte rpm's down below 2000, I've got 21 out of mine before cruiising at 72 mph, that was hand figured. But once you get a programmer it's hard to keep your foot out of it with 100+ MORE HORSEPOWER!

SCT might be the best...but I'm gonna say it's hard to keep your foot out of ANY programmer! Once you start increasing HP, the tendancy is to push it as far as it'll go! I've been trying to see how much better my mpg's are, but can't help putting it into L6 @ any opportunity & stand on it!
