Question Boost Cooler or Torqe Converter

I'm really thinking of adding the boost cooler but I can't decide if I should get a torque converter first. Right now it's one or the other. I am already putting down around 430 rwhp and with 70 more that puts me up to 500hp at the wheels. Do you think my tranny is gonna take that well? It is programed pretty good with the line pressure and all, I'm just not too sure what the limit is. Also would something like the ATS converter add some thrill to my ride since it locks up sooner?

Hey Scotty this one should be a no-brainer! The torque converter should be first on the list. You said you're layin down 430 now. Well look at this way. That TC you have now might be keeping you from layin down 440 maybe close to 450.....just on the mods you have now without the boost cooler!! So get the the TC and then put it on the dyno again and see just how much you gain with that alone. Then get the boost cooler and strap her down again and see what that does. If you don't drop some 520+ numbers with that combination I would be very surprised!
Also take a look at this page that I found a while back when doing my own research on trannies and torque converters. Now this guy went all out with the fully built tranny, but he does do a very good job of explaining just how well the ATS converter works, as well as the TripleLok Commander that goes with it. It's a 48re from a newer Dodge, but you'll get the same result in whatever tranny. I tell you, after reading this I was ready to sell everything I could part with to have the money to put one of these puppies behind my 7.3! http://www.pirate4x4.com/productreviews/ats/tranny/
