EGR delete WILL set check engine light.

Just thought I'd let everyone that's been thinking of bypassing the EGR know that this will happen to them if running the stock tune. I normally run Innovative tunes, that turn off the EGR, and never have a light. But I've been driving my truck around for the last 3 days on the stock tune(been in and out of the dealer chasing a driveline vibration) and my light finally came on. So it took awhile, but the not-so-stupid computer finally found my "Sneaky" pipe. My Extreme Street file goes back in tonight.

Early 6.0's wont throw a CEL.

Is the sneaky pipe you used from elite diesel? If not, which one is it and where did you get it?

That's it. I put it on at the same time it was having head studs put on. So with the cab off, it was a piece of cake to install.

My cooler is blocked off and when stock and the valve is functioning I do not get a cel, even for a cali truck. Oh and original egr valve, never been changed or cleaned.

I'll have to do mine with the cab on seeing as how I already have studs installed. I want to eliminate the EGR valve and throttle body completely so it is like the 05 and up trucks. I appreciate the info on the sneaky pipe. I was under the impression that it was around $500. I'll be ordering one soon.

My EGR is bypassed with freeze plug in the up pipe and EGR valve welded shut.
Yes, I also get the P0404 code. I have been clearing it and it reappears. I'm gonna try and run it and see if the cell goes out. I saw a post where one eventually went out

Code won't go away. I had the Banks 6 Gun and it ran a lot better before I blocked off the EGR. After it was blocked, I reinstalled the 6 Gun and it would set the code. It would defuel the truck. I've got a friend with a 2004 Cummins with a 70hp smarty jr. tune and I could smoke him before I had the studs installed and blocked the EGR. After I got it back we raced and he pulled 2 truck lengths on me. I know that no one seems to like Banks. That is why I no longer have the 6 Gun and am going to get an SCT. If I were you, I would ditch the Bully Dog and go with the SCT and custom tunes to shut the EGR off.
