SCT custom tunes

I am ready to get an SCT tuner by Innovative or DJ. Waiting for someone to call back. Everyone says they come with canned tunes. I also hear everyone say that the custom tunes are the way to go, but what are the custom tunes. Is is a file number, name, what do I ask for. I know it depends on what you want, like better shifting, fuel econmoy, less turbo lag. That is what I want along with the horsepower, but what are the custom tunes?

They are a file which reprograms the computer in your truck. The canned tunes are too generic and suck. Tell your tuner (DJ or Eric or whoever) what mods your truck has and he can adjust the tune to take advantage of those mods. Towing? Want a Jake brake and your converter locked up in 4th and 5th they can do it. etc. etc.

We sell many custom tunes from Innovative Diesel and use them ourselves.

Basic names for Erics tunes are

Economy, Tow, Tow agressive, Street Performance, Extreme street, Extreme Race.

The tow programs will depend on how much weight you tow, with or without engine braking things like that.
The Extreme files make very similar power, but the Extreme Race will give you very firm shifts and converter locking. There are many options that can be done with custom tuning.

Since the tuner only holds 3 custom tunes can you store more on your computer?

yes, you can store as many as you want on your computer, and swap them out with live load.

Does live load come with the tuner?

the tuner should come with a CD, but it was recommended to me to go to the SCT website and download it from there.
