Head Studs

How do you install the head studs? I have heard from you have to take to a professional and they have to take the motor out : to regular ppl doing it themselves. If you do take it yo someone, how much would it cost bc i will need them? Any help is appreciated.

It is either a cab off or engine out repair.

I have heard of prices for labor alone running from $1500-$2500.

If you can, some Ford dealerships will replace the studs under warranty after either replacing the heads, or just pulling them for inspection. The latter is how I got mine done.

Do you need studs? An 07 should be pretty safe without new sticks and a turbo. If you do need, most people will tell you its easiest to lift the body off the frame. You'll need a shop.

He should be OK, depending on the power he wants out of it and how hard he drives it. Even the latter years had head issues, not as common as earlier, but ya never know if you want the power.

You would be replaceing the head bolt with studs, So remove everything form the heads up. 90% of the time it's cab off. But as what was said earlier. Do you need studs?

where are you from? We have a dealership here that does them all the time under warranty. IF your showing signs of needing them.

Guys tell me if this is true, i heard from a very knowledgeable diesel powerstroke6.0 owner that in 04 when the engine came out it had head bolts, however in 05 when they changed the body style they replaced the head bolts with, head studs? Just wondering if this is true?

NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE!! When Ford warrants head gaskets they are still replacing back with head bolts. Kinda dumb in IMO!! Ford is only changing torque specs.
Some dealerships will install your studs .... some wont.
OH ..... I have an '06 and witnessed head bolts were installed. Tech installed my ARP Studs!

two things when bolts are replaced under warranty they install an updated bolt(not as good as studs but you won't notice a difference unless your running 750 hp) and it is possible to do studs in the chassis but it is a job i wouldn't recomend unless you are mechanically inclined and patient
