MTW Stage I 10-blade vs 13-blade?

Just wondering if anyone has videos showing the difference in exhaust sound? I like some whistle but my '03 whistle is starting to get old and I'm not sure how much the 10-blade changes the sound. Thanks!!

BTW - I did search and even on Youtube I could only find a DuraStroke clip from a year ago and it doesn't say which turbine wheel is in it.

The 13 blade whistle isn't anywhere near as loud as the 10 blade 03.

Your 03 turbine is a 10 bladed turbine wheel. If you tired of the whistle, I'd just buy a 13 bladed duramax turbine wheel and stick in it. If you are going to get a new turbo, the MTW Stage 1 comes with the 13 bladed turbine wheel. Either way though, the 13 bladed turbine wheel will not whistle like the 10 bladed one does.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Does the 13-blade have any type of whistle? It sounds like the MTW Stage I has a little more compressor sound to it but I would still like to hear what the exhaust sounds like.

Thanks!!! That definitely gives me a better idea. I would like some whistle but when your neighbors start covering their ears when you leave the house it's time to do something.

Yeah, like move to a better neighborhood. My neighbors really go off on my 03 turbo whistle and all commented about the lack of whistle when I swapped it out for the Pmax. Even though it too is a 10 blade it just doesn't whistle like the 03 does.

hmmm... I know this is off topic but I have always assumed the pmax and the 03 10blade were the same on the turbine side

guess i need to add that to the list of things I research

They are the same turbine wheel. However though, just because it is the same turbine wheel doesn't mean it is always going to give the same exhaust note. The compressor wheel plays a part in the amount of noise made from the turbo too.

This is exactly what I'm going to do. Turns out I know a guy that had one of these 13-blade wheels kicking around. I'll add that and my new MTW billet compressor wheel and call it good for now until I can afford to buy a new turbo.
