Thumbs up It's almost here

Wednesday's the day that my SCTX3 will be here but, I'm kinda worried since I don't have any guages yet. Aside from not romping on it, any other pieces of advice until I get some gauges in?

Thanks

Let it idle a few minutes before you shut it off after driving. If you aren't romping on it you should be ok, just make sure you let it cool off after you're done driving. I would say like 2 min for just a little town driving, and 5 minutes after an expressway run. Again depending on how heavy your foot is lol

your next few mods should be cooling mods...intake, cfm , zoodad...look into isspro gauges thats what i have, they are great. And also as far as letting it cool down...with support mods or even stock if your getting on it hard let it cool down for about 30 seconds and around town i left it still go for about 30 seconds. you want it to be around 300 degrees (egts) and you will be fine.

BTW when are you coming down to jersey to take some pics across my hood??

I'd say you'll be fine on the tunes that com pre-loaded... they should be too agressive... barring another problem with your truck that could cause high EGT's and whatnot, i think you will be fine beating on it at least a little bit untill you get some gauges in it.

As far as aftermarket tunes... I drive my truck daily on a "Looney Wild" tune from DJ... but i've got studs in my motor... i dont think you can run this tune with stock headbolts... but his tunes are excellent... shifting is WAY better than the SCT pre-loads as is the power... I have heard good things about Innovative's tunes as well, but everyone i know around me with 6.0's (A LOT) have DJ's tunes in their trucks... so I'd recommend DJ's any day of the week...

did you run your truck with the sct without studs at all?

i ran my truck for about 10k miles every single day with my tunes from dj. I ran extreme looney, looney dyno, looney race, looney everything. my truck loved it. I only got my studs down about a month ago. But i have a few new mods to the truck since the studs as well. I drive my truck HARD everytime i get in it. And i did the same before it was studded. i got a heavy foot!

i ran the off the shelf SCT Tunes with no studs... i also stacked it with a Juice w/ Attitude... i was TRYING to blow the heads off and couldnt... i beat the hell out of my truck also... i have to clean my EGR out once a week to keep it from surging at idle.... the next thing im gonna do is delete the EGR...
