Some folks choose to remove the EGR cooler all together, which will prevent any failures with coolant flow from the oil cooler and through the EGR cooler. Sometimes they will clog up with casting sand from the block, which is why I have a bypass coolant filter kit on mine. Let us know if you still have questions.
Yea, I thought it was turned off in the tuning. Is there a link somewhere about removing the cooler all together?

may seem janky, but the "zip tie mod" was one of the first solutions to EGR problems..the functional valve would sit outside the motor and operate as normal to keep EGR position codes from popping up...that truck is a piece of 6.0 history...

Hey guys after reading it up finally took the plunge and did a complete EGR removal. My egr cooler went out white smoke blah blah, so instead of putting the $591 factory cooler back in I just did it my self. Well kinda, my folks flew down for the week to see the grandkids and I stole my dad for extra hands.

Followed the write up of the complete removal ( Mudracer, evil eye)
Really great!!! on the money with just about every thing. I cut both ends of the cooler of and reused the V-band clamp on the uppipe and bolted the other end to the intake manifold. Also wielded the egr valve closed. no CEL but if i check the dtc's with the cortex it is showing that the egr valve is not working right. he he

Any way So far so good really happy with the results and truck seems to be alot happier as well

Total Price:
Rubber hose $6.50
Freeze plugs 2 $1.00
New Fuel filter cap $70.40
Letting somebody else wield $60

Over all MUCH Cheaper than any pre made items
GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS
