Installing EGT probe and have a question

The directions say to drill a 5/16" hole and tap itfor 1/8" NPT. Did I buy the right tap? Its say 1/8" -27NPT. What is the 27 for?!?!

27 threads per inch. Should be fine tap - should be good to go!
