SCT Safety

It souonds like most everyone here talks very highlty of the SCT tuner/programmer. Question is how safe is it and how can if be safe? What does it monitor? I have a Banks with speed loader so it monitors EGT and makes sure EGT's don't get too high. Everyone says SCT more horsepower and safer but no one can tell me how.

It is smart to have an EGT guage among other things when running any tune from what I understand

if you are running SCT, then you would also probably have guages that can show exhaust temp, boost pressure. some people have more guages for other things. you are the one to make it safe.

The only true "safe" device on your truck is your right foot.

I have EGT, Boost and Tranny gauges. I guess what is confusing is when you hear that "we can give you safe power", "I would run nothing but a SCT" I quite don't understand what safe power is. Are we talking 10 hp, 50 or 100? I ran a Banks with Speed loader so the EGT's never were above the cutout limit. My Boost never seemed to run higher than 30, I did not run the truck hard stayed in level 2 and 3 and just went through replacing heads, gaskets, egr cooler, lube oil cooler, egr valve etc at 75K miles. I miss the little extra power but not really ready to do this again.
