If you are just installing the "stock" SCT tunes, Its as easy as plugging into the OBD port and following the on screen prompts, to install tune. If you are getting "custom" tunes you will need to download the SCT X3/LiveWire Firmware 1.33 off the SCT website and install it on your comp. Then plug your Xcal into your truck and retrieve your trucks pcm strategy, email it to your "custom" tune vendor, i.e. DJs, Innovative, Dfuser, etc. they email you the custom tunes. then you plug your xcal into your comp. and upload the tunes from the updater to your Xcal, go install the tune into your rig, and attempt to keep your right foot out of the throttle! Hope this helps you out.

I just installed the SCT X3 on my truck today. All I did was upload the stock tune by following what the screen said. Then you download the X3 tune. I do have a question about mine though (you may have the same question when you get yours). I thought that the X3 came with 3 different levels of tune. Once I saved my stock tune it immediately went into downloading the new tune. My question is how do I change to a different level or can I even do that? BTW, sorry about the highjack.

Does the SCTX3 Custom Have any tunes designed for just gas mileage performance? Would it be just as good as the Hypertech Maxenergy programmer?

First, 94grand if I understand you right, yes you can change between tunes. When it asks you, program vechicle-hit select, then it should show a tune and you scroll down to get to your other tunes. Comosmart1, A custom tuner can write a program for what ever you want your truck to do.
