EGR Block

I don't know if this is the correct place for this question as it apoplies more to an upgrade than a performance part; but has anyone had any experience with one of those EGR block off kits? It blocks the flow path but you keep the EGR in place and hooked up so there are no trouble codes but you stop recycling the soot. I have heard high recommendations for using it but I was told by a mechanic last night that it keeps the underside of the intake cooler which was hard for me to imagine as hot as the exhaust gets.

I haven't personally done this yet, but have read alot about it. There are several posts on this topic and even a write-up in the tech section. I would have to agree with your mechanic about it keeping the underside of the intake cooler, because the EGR cooler is located next to/under the intake and you are blocking off the flow of exhaust into the cooler or removing it completely you would be removing that heat source. But that is not the main reason to do the mod, however another positive side that I hadn't considered.

I guess one of the things I wanted to know is if there are any negative impacts to blocking off the EGR; I want to make sure I am not harming anything on my engine by doing it.

As far as I am aware there are no negatives besides becoming emissions non-compliant and voiding your warranty if you cared about such things.

you will not harm your engine. do not buy liberator's kit. you can do it and it be well hidden enough that warranty wouldn't be an issue unless they had to pull your up-pipes off or the egr cooler.

I have about 153k on it so warranty is not an issue with me; this truck has been good to me; I will be replacing the first bad ICP and pig tail this weekend; it is a F250 CC 4x4 FX4 and I get 16-18 mpg here in Houston with it so from what I hear from others I am doing pretty good.

I just did deleted the EGR system off my truck. It was frustrating and time consuming but well worth the head ache.

Why would you block it off instead of just unplugging it.. I ask because I unplugged it on my 04 and it has not sent me any codes according to my insight and it has been a week
