6.0L 4” or 5” Turbo-back SS and Single or Dual Exhaust…Which one?
Hello everyone…I am fairly new at post on this site and I need some expert advice. I recently went from a 2002 7.3L PSD F350 Lariat package to a 2006 6.0L PSD F250 King Ranch package and I want to start modifying it for daily driving and towing my toy hauler. I had my 2002 set up and knew the ins and outs of this truck, but new and learning daily about the 2006.
My question is whether to go with a 4” or 5” turbo-back system (4” down pipe, not 3.5”) w/stainless steel (not polished, I am not showing my truck) and whether to stick with a single or dual exhaust system for my needs. The reason for SS is that I live in the Pacific NW and will be moving to the heartland of the Mid-West where they use a lot more salt in the winter. If you could give me your expert opinion of size, type, brand, part #, and who to buy it from I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you could recommend a nice exhaust tip if the system doesn’t come with one. I love this site and all its members…. |

dual or single is purely personal preference, you will not see any more performance out of a dual system then you would from a single. next is manufacture, personally i like MBRP they have a lifetime warranty and fit great and we are including tips w/ all their kits. lastly if you want ss 5" Magnaflow is going to be your only option there, but keep in mind that while doing alot of highway driving the 5" sometimes resonates in the cab. only way i woudl say choose 5" is if your looking for noise.
let me know if you have any other ?s we're here till 9 ![]() kyle |

Kyle,
Thanks for the info. I was just talking to a buddy and he recommended to stick with the 4" turbo-back (w/4" dp), ss, go either MBRP or Magnaflow if you are going to install yourself. So since I have narrowed it down even more, what are my choices now? |

personally i like the wistle that you get from the MBRP better and it's got a little different pitch to it as well.
this is an MBRP kit MBRP http://www.xtremediesel.com/audio/S6...es%20Video.wmv |

I have installed 2 MBRP kits and they are well engineered, the fit and finish is very good. My vote is for the duals |

Do you happen to have a part number for your duals. I haven't had duals on a truck since my F-150. |

i also had an mbrp 4" turbo back all ss. it didn't have a true 4" down pipe, i think it was 3 7\8" there wasn't much room to spare if i remember right. i did it myself in an afternoon. went together well. i don't remember if the tip i had was mbrp or not. it was 6" x 18". it gave a really nice tone. keep in mind your tone comes mainly from the tip i believe. the large dia. and length gave it a very nice sound. the mbpr also came with a high flow muffler which i did use because my wife drove it alot in the city. i put the muffler in backwards( don't know if it did anything) i also gutted the cat, trimmed the ends, and straightpiped through the center. i had to leave the shell on for smog.
long story short, i would recomend mbrp. |

The part number for my system is S6210304. But that is for the T304 SS system, The one I think you are looking for is the T409 SS (not polished)? If that is the case, The one you are looking for is S6214409.

Now I dont' know what to do... single or dual. I think that I will go with the MBRP. I had a Magnaflow on my 02 7.3l and loved the sound, but willing to try something different.
